Would you like to build your own drum?
We would be happy to help you! We build them in the style and with respect for the indigenous tribes of our earth.
A self-made drum is a powerful personal instrument and a magical companion for rituals and inner journeys. The connection to and experience with a self-made drum can be a source of great power and inspiration.
Drumming allows us to express our very own rhythm and listen to the pulse of our lives. When we drum in nature, we connect with the entire universe and can remember that we are part of the whole.
Location
17438 Hohendorf (Wolgast), Am Mühlenbach 3
The drum building takes place in the area around the mill in Hohendorf. The feeltone seminar house with all its sound and musical instruments is located here. There are three lakes here, one is even a bathing lake, a small stream flows through the garden, surrounded by woods and meadows. Hohendorf is a small village directly on the Peene, just before the island of Usedom, with its own railroad stadium.
It's a great place to immerse yourself in nature and relax. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you will find the leisure and the spirit to create your ritual drum here in unspoiled nature.
Time
Wednesday, July 9 - 11 a.m. to Sunday, July 13, 2024 - 4 p.m.
Procedure
We will form a small tribe for four days. In addition to the manual work, small and larger rituals will interweave our time together, e.g. inviting supporting forces (such as cardinal points, elements and helping beings); incense; ritual rounds; singing; solo times; drumming for the elements; trance drumming; playing the Motherdrum together...
After a ritual walk in nature you will know from which animal skin your drum will be made. You will choose from cow, horse, wild boar or deer skins that have been naturally dehaired. The cutting of your skin and your skin cord is often an archaic experience. This is followed by sanding and oiling your frame. You have a choice of different sizes and shapes.
Then wood and skin, plant and animal are brought together - your drum is created. And then ... it needs time ... to dry ... and arrive. We will have time to build our bobbins and exchange ideas about ritual practice. In the group and alone we will try out different playing techniques and explore the surroundings.
The highlight is the dedication of your drum. It is its initiation - and birth. You will take your first steps together with it in our already trusted tribe. This will strengthen your connection to it and perhaps give you an outlook on your work with it.

Material costs approx. 180,- € (may vary slightly depending on the economic market) and depending on the size of the drum and choice of animal skin.

Contact and registration
There is a wonderful special feature in this seminar. The experienced seminar leader for ritual drum making Martina Gläser-Böhme has handed over the baton to the next generation. The seminar will therefore be led by her successor Romy Gärtner. To ensure a smooth transition, both women will be on site this summer to guide you through the creation of your drum. It couldn't be better.

I have been building shamanic drums at feeltone since 2003 and have been teaching drum building courses since 2010. The shamanically inspired path with the drum in connection with nature and trance experiences are my source of strength, connection and inspiration.
