The Kigonki is a metal tongue drum (also called tank drum or metal tongue drum).

The two instruments Enki and Lulu are made exclusively for us by our instrument maker friends in Spain. The Kigionkis are each a masterpiece of tuning precision and beautiful colored surfaces, not to be compared with the many industrially mass-produced instruments from Asia. The love of craftsmanship, precision and the commitment to bringing beauty to the world cannot be mass-produced, let alone discounted. We greatly appreciate this collaboration and are proud to have these instruments in our program.

The Kigonki Enki by feeltone

Has a flat ufo-like body with 8 reeds on the surface. The tones sound dry and percussive and their fine reverberation is such that they can also be played quickly. The volume produces a rich sound. The pentatonic tuning is precise.

The Kigonki Lulu by feeltone

has a high body with a large volume and the 8 pentatonic notes are arranged symmetrically on the top. On the underside, the same notes are arranged slightly offset and tuned with a little trick so that they resonate perfectly when the upper notes are struck. This produces a very reverberant and spherical sound that resonates for a pleasingly long time. The long reverberation allows the player to play very slowly and spherically and let the sound resonate. However, it is also possible to play faster and more percussively and produce a rich sound.

Both melody drums can be played with the corresponding mallets or just with the hands or with the combination of mallets in the left hand and with the bare hand on the right. If you take the drum by the handle, you can walk around the room and let the kigonki vibrate so that the sound resonates through the room and a gentle wahwah, a kind of reverberation, spreads out.
