You have two options for placing your tenor tongue drum.

What are the tones of the tenor tongue drum?
The 8 notes are tuned pentatonically in D minor and arranged so that the left hand starts at the bottom left of the lowest note. The next note is played on the right and so on until the highest note is reached. This arrangement allows both clear rhythmic sequences and intuitive experimentation with the timbres. Melodies build up slowly and the drum can be played with mallets as well as with the fingers and hands.
How to play the tenor tongue drum
The mallets can be used to strike the notes rhythmically and clearly. The player can also let the mallets dribble on the notes, creating fascinating sound patterns that can be combined with the simple striking of the tongues.
Material and workmanship of the tenor tongue drum
The tenor tongue drum is made of air-dried wood and is cleanly tuned. It is identical in construction to the larger bass tongue drum. We use padouk, a tonewood with excellent vibration properties and a longer resonance. As an alternative, we use ash, which is similar in quality to padouk and comes from local forests.
