The fabulous - dreamer - sound charmer - since 2001

With the Sansula enchantment effect she has conquered the world after only 10 years. The delicate membrane amplifies the sound. The oval frame forms the open resonance chamber, which is placed on the player's lap, closes and opens again when lifted. Thus this vibrato effect caresses everyone's ear.

  • 9 notes tuned in A minor: a, c', e', f', a', a', b', c'', e''
  • Material:
    • Beech frame
    • Skin made out of cellulose
    • Kalimba made out of cherry
  • Dimensions: 20 x 15,5 x 6 cm
  • With careful handling also suitable for older children
  • Biologically treated with hard oil
  • Made in Germany

The Kalimba of the Sansula Basic is mounted on a cellulose skin. This gives it a full sound space that carries the tones for a long time. The thin cellulose skin is very sturdy in itself. However, in contrast to Sansula Renaissance, it can break or tear, for example, by a fall or improper handling by children. The manufacturer Hokema will replace the skin for you at any time, or upgrade it with a Remo percussion fur to an unbreakable Sansula Renaissance.

Traditionally the Kalimba (Zanza, Mbira, Nsansi, thumb piano) is the instrument of South African storytellers. The player enchants with dreamlike sounds and melodies even completely without knowledge of notes and music.

The renowned manufacturer, Peter Hokema, invented this instrument in 2001 and developed it to a quality that makes it possible to experience sound as well as handling and aesthetics in its highest form. With the processing of the best materials the so far five existing models of the Sansula are perfected. Hokema sets the highest standards here.
