Why a Soundwave?

This instrument was developed in 2003 by Ingo Böhme, instrument maker since 1982, in collaboration with Martina Gläser-Böhme, body therapist since 1995. The unique design combines the two branches of feeltone sound instruments - the monochord and the tongue drum - to create an outstanding sound massage experience. Played with mindfulness, dedication and empathy, the sound wave opens new doors to experiencing music. Monochromy, overtone spheres, your own concert, connection to the eternal sound.

On one side of this particularly ergonomic Soundwave is the 40-string monochord, which, tuned in two octaves, can produce an infinite sound carpet. Detached from space and time, body and soul can arrive. The other side comprises the tongue drum area with four very deep tones that are felt more than heard.

The gentle and deep rhythm of the drum can be used at the beginning of the treatment and thus form the transition to the sound journey with the monochord. The waves of the monochord sound bring the client into deep relaxation, body and soul become present and a feeling of acceptance spreads. Afterwards, the rhythmic grounding of the tongue drum has an integrating effect and prepares the client for the encounter with the outside world and everyday life.

Strengthened by the connection, coming home in sound and the deep letting go, it is possible to overcome old patterns and set new impulses for your own higher potential.

Our Ulmer stool can be placed at the foot end of the Soundwave to rest the client's feet. It does not take long for the sound to reach the feet through the body, even without the feet touching the sound body.

The spherical and restrained sound of the overtones is also ideal for all types of singing. The voice is virtually challenged to tune into the ocean of sounds in order to come into harmony with the client.

The Soundwave is now at home all over the world: in private use for meditation and wellness, in various therapeutic areas and increasingly also in scientific research.

The finest feeltone craftsmanship made from high-quality materials, lovingly crafted from the plank to the stringing, produced in north-east Germany on the beautiful Baltic Sea and shipped all over the world.

Ash or padouk?

We use padouk because it has particularly good tonal properties as a tonewood. The selected padouk from Nigeria comes exclusively from controlled and certified felling, which is significantly more expensive than padouk of unclear origin. We as a company are not certified (very bureaucratic and costly, our consumption is too low), but we can always provide the certificate of our wood supplier as proof of our certified padouk. It is an ethical "must" for us to use only such wood. We store the wood in the open air for 2-4 years to achieve the best drying results. Industrially dried padouk is very susceptible to cracking.

Padouk is an excellent tonewood with very good vibration properties. This is noticeable in the tongue drum with a longer resonance, for monochord playing this difference is not so significant. We use ash as a local alternative. This particularly long-fibered wood is very similar in quality to padouk.
